The chairman of Kampala New Generation Traders Association, John Kabanda accuses Chief Magistrate of Buganda Road court Gladys Kamasanyu of messing up his case in which he accused tycoon Christine Nabukeera and her son Vincent Mawanda of stealing his merchandise and had cash.
Kabanda and his Association members caused commotion at Buganda road court when they were showing their dissatisfaction on how Magistrate Kamasanyu handled their case and they wanted her to hand in the file to another magistrate to whom the case was allocated.
The plaintiff (Kabanda) alleges that Kamasanyu was bribed by Nabukeera and this forced him to ask the registrar of court to allocate his case to another magistrate but even after the case was allocated to Magistrate Sanula Nambooza, Kamasanyi had hesitated to hand over the file.
He also alleges that Kamasanyu apart from being a court official she is a business lady and she subscribes to the Tulibumu one of the associations that brings together business women in Kampla. Therefore he feels uncomfortable to have her (Kamasanyu) continue hearing his case.
The case which started in October, 2020, had been handle by three magistrates so far and it was first handled by Marion Mangeni then Gladys Kamasanyu and now Sanula Namboozo.
Magistrate Sanula Namboozo after receiving the file, adjourned the case in which Kabanda accuses real estate developer Nabukeera and his son Mawanda of breaking into his shop which was located at Nana center building along Nabugabo road and stealing his merchandise worth UGX 200m and hard cash of US dollar 125,000 and UGX 175 M in 2020.
This was the last day when Kabanda’s side was supposed to present their 5th witness in the matter under chief Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu but the plaintiff defied her to continue with the hearing after sensing that she had connived with accused (Nabukeera) to deny traders justice.
After several minutes of commotion in court chambers, Authorities at Buganda Road court ordered the Kabanda’s file to be taken in court 4 under Magistrate Sanula Namboozo who has advised for adjournment to peruse through well in the file as the accusers also prepare to present their 5th witness.
Talking to journalists after the court john Kabanda thanked court for giving poor opportunity to have justice because on many occasion reach people connive with judges to deny justice to poor.
” I thank Court for standing with poor, Nabukeera always use money to bribe judges and give fake ruling and it has been the subject today but we were vigilant and defied justice Kamasanyu and we are contented this new magistrate will give us justice” Kabanda revealed.
