Brawn boxing club based in Kulambiro is working tirelessly as administrators to produce the best boxers in Country. The CEO of the club Mr. WYCLEF MUSINGUZI says they came up with an affirmative action of setting up a boxing club gym where athlete boxers could train and nurture their talent every a single day of the week without any compromise and failure.
This new born baby Brawn boxing club hasn’t even made a full year of existence but has steadily grown to being recognized as one the fast moving power houses promoting the sport of boxing by putting boxers and coaches first.
This club participated in 2023 Uganda National Opens where they managed to score four medals which are key and a qualification to join and participate in the Uganda champions’ league slated to commence this April 22nd 2023 at Lugogo indoor Arena.
The four boxers who qualified to compete in this year’s competition include Aisha Namagembe who will represent the Club in the youth category of Bantam weight 54kgs as well as Leila Nalule also in the youth category competing in the feather weight of 57kgs.
In Juniors they have Zennah Nakulima of light fly, 48kgs also ready to compete in this year’s league. Finally the club also has an elite boxer by the names of Alfred Ojok of Middleweight, 75kgs ready to contest.
The humbled yet talented boxer happens to be the newly undisputed champion of his weight category beating and winning all his bouts since the novices to the intermediates and now the just concluded National Opens.
Uganda National champions’ league competition categorizes boxers in three groups to include Elite, Youth and Juniors. The CEO of the club Wyclif Musinguzi Amooti said that, “We decided to engage ourselves in boxing by starting a club that can actually create a lot of positive social change whilst mitigating many social challenges in our communities especially among the youth and that has been the drive that has brought us where we are Today.”
He also went ahead to add that “Here at Brawn Boxing Club, we have about nine professional coaches that are dedicated and committed to scout, train, nurture and promote our kids and elite athlete boxers to becoming future champions and leaders of the club, the country and within their families and communities.
We also provide facilities, training classes and sessions to some of the club members who in return are treated as clients to the club and fans to the same boxers and these have to an extra mile to donate items and finds that continuously support the club cause as well as come to support these same boxers during their competitions.
This attribute has been instrumental in getting us this far. This discipline is also considered on how we do things and as well as how we manage the club affairs, the boxers and coaches.
The other key factor he mentioned was having a transparent administration that is always striving and looking at doing things a different way.
It’s evident to see the togetherness at this young club and even though they are a small family, the look to celebrate all the small wins and gains together however little they are or seen and they believe that’s their edge to maintaining a United boxing family in the sport.
