INTERN DOCTORS HAVE WARNED THE GOVERNMENT NOT TO WITHDRAW THEIR PENSIONS

There have been protests by medical intern doctors affiliated to the Uganda Medical association fighting police for not allowing them to go to parliament to complain to the speaker about their issues which the government has refused to address.

The doctors , who were holding placards with messages expressing their concerns , condemned the delay in starting tests in hospitals

According to the Secretary general of the Uganda Medical Association, Dr Herbert Luswata, the ministry of health issued a statement telling them that they would delay the start of the tests intern Doctors, but they did not set a date for start medical intern.

“He said some medical intern Doctors have just finished their studies in universities and they have papers but they are not helping them at the moment because they have not started their medical intern, and some have been on the cup for one year but they do not know the date .

Luswata said another problem that will hit Uganda is if 70% of medical intern Doctors on medical intern complete and leave hospitals that this means patients in government hospitals will suffer.

The medical intern Doctors also warned the ministry of health not to blame itself for cutting its budget by refusing to pay intern doctors and senior Doctors their salaries.

He said many medical intern doctors who are studying for intern Doctor will be evicted from their homes, others do not have transport but they come from far away but the government does not provide them with accommodation.

They also complained that the money given to their supervisors is not enough but they are doing a great job of tracking the students who are in medical intern Doctors which has led them to run away from the supervisor of medical intern Doctors and go for other things.

Medical intern doctors in the stage have warned the ministry of health not to withdraw internship fees as they are doing a great job in treating patients.

They also want the Government if a intern Doctors completes medical intern by giving him a job letter and starts working.
