Security agencies have not done enough to identify murder victims

The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has urged the government to do its utmost to monitor the guns in the country

UPC spokesperson, Arach Oyat Sharon

UPC Headquarters Information Officer Arach Oyat Sharon told a news conference at Uganda House in Kampala that the government should set up a special commission to investigate the killing of former Deputy Labor Minister Chalsea Engola .

He also added that security should be mentioned in areas like Kyanjja where murders are rampant as many people have been shot in the area.

Oyat Sharon went on to say that such murders could also deter investors and tourists from visiting Uganda.

UPC spokesperson Arach Oyat Sharon said security agencies have not done enough to identify murder victims.

He said the government has the expertise to identify and arrest all the culprits with deadly weapons through its intelligence agencies.

Sharon said that the guns are in the hands of the wrong people who have been seeing criminal activities in the country such as robbery of petrol stations , mobile money shops, hardware, as the illegal slave owners have been using them to commit crimes against Ugandans.

He said the government is fighting against the Kalamoja who have guns who use them to steal cattle and the government has everything necessary to fight against the illegal guns owners in Kampala.

“Oyat Sharon said, after blogger,Isma Tusubira aka Jajja Iculi Olaxes happened in the same locality of Kyanja who was talking a lot on social media was shot dead on the night of 6 May 2023.This is a regrettable development which is not very far from the area where the country recently experienced three serious incidents; the murder of Assistant Inspector General of police Andrew Felix Kaweesi, bomb blast at a pork joint which claimed lives of people and the criminal attack on the Minister of works and transport Gen.Katumba Wamala who sustained injuries and left his daughter dead in kulambiro zone.

Sharon Said that course there other incidents of such violent nature which happened much earlier, claiming the lives of our people. This worrying trend gives a negative picture of our country and it is not good at all as it threatens investments in terms of investors and tourism hence ruining the national development/revenue.

UPC party reiterates its call to Gavument to institute a commission of Inquiry to probe into these murders that have a potential of undermining the security and the image of our country.
