Shots were fired at the Bulange

The territorial Police at Old Kampala are investigating an aggravated robbery incident that took place on the early morning of May 24, 2023, at approximately 0400hrs,  in Bulange A Cell, Nsibambi Road, Rabaga Division, Kampala District.

 The victims have been identified as Bashir Tahalil, a 38-year-old Somali national and businessman from Equatorial Mall, and his wife, Shukri Jama, a housewife.

According to the preliminary investigation, it is alleged that , an unknown assailant gained access to the victims’ residence by jumping over the perimeter wall after cutting the electric wires. The robber broke into the house, specifically entering through the kitchen using the back door. 

A confrontation ensued between the assailant and Bashir Tahalil, during which the robber seized Bashir’s Samsung Galaxy phone before fleeing the scene.

After believing the robber had left, Bashir and his wife opened the door, only to find the assailant still present. Tragically, the assailant fired two shots, with one bullet striking Shukri Jama in her right thigh.

 The robber used a pistol during the incident and subsequently fled to an unidentified location. Shukri Jama is currently receiving medical treatment at Medipal Hospital for her gunshot wound, which is located above her knee.

The stolen phone is described as a Samsung Ultra 22 . 

The police have taken immediate action regarding this case . A team of officers from the Division has visited the crime scene, conducted a thorough examination, and documented the evidence, including photographs. 

Additionally, two empty cartridge casings have been recovered from behind the victims’ house for forensic analysis .

Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson deputy ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said, the investigation progresses, the police are dedicated to identifying and apprehending the assailant responsible for this heinous act. We urge anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and assist the police in their efforts to bring the perpetrator to justice.

The police would like to remind the public to remain vigilant and ensure the security of their homes by implementing necessary safety measures. We encourage residents to report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly.
