The Minister of Sports and recreation in Buganda Kingdom Henry Ssekabembe Kiberu has rallied Kabaka’s subjects to embrace the ‘Bika’ football and netball tournaments through contributing financial support and attending matches as well because this helps them to stay and work together.
He commended all teams that have participated in this year’s edition and urged the fans to support their clans and also turn-up in the stadiums so as to cheer up their teams when they are playing because this makes the tournament competitive just like the Masaza Cup.
‘’The second round of Bika tournament 2023 has been very competitive compared to the first round and almost every team that has come out has played very competitive football.’’ Sekabembe said
“In order to develop our clan football, fans should come back to the stadiums, it’s our duty as leaders to attract them to come and watch while their teams are playing” Sekabembe said.
The matches at this stage have both been played at various venues such as: At Wankulukuku, Njovu 1-0 Nnyonyi Nakinsige, Kakembo Uthuman scoring the goal in the 34th minute for Njovu.
Nkejje beat Nvuma 1- 0 curtesy of Davis Kasirye in a match played at Buddo SS ground while that of Butiko and Amazzi G’eKisai ended in a 1-1 all, but Butiko won on penalties (5-3) at Mutesa II Memorial Stadium(Wankulukuku). Wilfred Mark Kabuusu scored for Butiko in the first half while Gerald Sekabira equalized midway second half.
Nkima edged Nnyonyi Ndisa 3-2 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Mutesa I stadium Kennedy Ssewankambo, Najib Ssali, Amuli Waddimba scored for Nkima while Arafat Muyanja and Nicholas Ssenyonjo scored for Nnyonyi Ndisa . At Kawanda SS Embwa edged 2-0 Nnyonyi Nyange 2-0.
The draws for the 32 teams round will be held on Thursday 8, this week at the Bulange Mengo.
