The Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja flagged a fleet of 116 ambulances aimed at enhancing emergency medical services in the country. So far, 53 have been fully equipped to the standard of a Type B ambulance to facilitate emergency transfers.
The remaining part of the new fleet are currently being re-equipped to suit the Type B standards and distribution will be concluded by end of February 2024.
According to the National EMS policy, ‘’we aim to have one Type B ambulance per constituency (1: 100,000 people).’’ The ambulances flagged off have been procured by Government of Uganda and partners the Minister of Health Dr. Jane Acheng confirmed to the reporters.
