Fire has gutted Democratic Offices located at City House a long William and Luwumu Streets this morning at around 9:30am and left at least one person dead.
Several business owners were seen shading tears as they counted losses , as their properties got destroyed in the fire, whose cause is yet to be ascertained by Police, after thorough investigations are made.
By press time Police Fire Bridge was still fighting to put out the fire which destroyed documents and properties worth millions of shillings.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokes person Luke Oyesigire said that police fire brigade had deployed 7 vehicles to extinguish the fire but they got a challenge of getting water because there’s no fire hydrant water system within the vicinity.
“One male person so far has been discovered dead and his body has been taken to Mulago city Mortuary but his identity is yet to be discovered.” Owoyesigire said.
City House building apart from housing opposition DP offices, it also houses Baata shoes shop located at the side of Luwumu Street, stationary shops on the second floor and many garment outlets on the ground floor as well.
