The Minister of Information and National Guidance Dr. Chris Baryomunsi has expressed government readiness to host the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) and G77+ China summits that slated to take place this month at Speke Resort Munyonyo Hotel.
While addressing reporters at Uganda Media Centre in Kampala, he said that government has already expanded the internet services at Entebbe International Airport and at Kajjansi with the latest Wi-Fi 6 which of the modern technology.
“Technology will play a central role in NAM summit due to the purposes of relaying information by both local and international media to the public on time as regards to what will be transpiring in these meetings.’’ Dr. Baryomunsi explained.
He also revealed that about 100 countries have confirmed their participation and so far 25 presidents have also confirmed their attendance in person others will send their deputies and Foreign Ministers.
“ We are confident the two summits will be held successfully. All of us just need to be positive and show our good hospitality to the visitors. This has nothing to do with one’s political inclination it’s the visitors are not for NRM party but for Uganda as a State. We should behind our political differences and unit for a cause.’’ He cautioned.
The minister said although services have been improved as the country is preparing to receive visitors, when they leave they will remain functional for the public to enjoy. End.
