The assist Bishop of Kampala Anglican Diocese who also doubles as the chancellor of Ndejje University Dr. Hannington Mutebi narrates how he survived blood cancer (Leukaemia) in 2020.
He narrated the story of his cancer survival while presiding over the thanks giving service organised by New Vision’s group (Bukedde TV and Radio) at All Saints church Nakasero on March 2, 2024
Whereas as the majority of people diagnosed with blood cancer hardly survive for long, Bishop Mutebi has been able to stay alive and was even declared free of blood cancer by London (UK) doctors where he got his treatment.
Doctors here (Kampala) who first diagnosed him and discovered that the man of God hand the most deadly cancer (Leukaemia) and had given him only four day after which he would meet his creator and to make the matters worse, he didn’t have even money on his bank account to take him abroad further management of the situation.
When those who wanted to at least help him to mobilize some funds to take him abroad for better treatment asked his wife Milly Mutebi where she wanted to take her husband for treatment she said London.

They asked her how much she had save but replied not even a single penny because to be treatment in London required very huge sum of money but the faithful said she had God at her side and money will be raised.
Having reached London within only two weeks the little money they had gone with had gotten used up and fortunately a Ugandan woman who hard had about his illness called him informing him that she had learned about the fundraising
The Good Samaritan called the Bishop to go to Central London and pick £ 100,000 but he couldn’t travel because the sickness was now severe and couldn’t even walk, however he sent there his wife who picked the money.
The church prior had announced the fundraising for him and by God’s grace within only one and half months a total of UGX 2.5 billion had been raised for the Bishop’s treatment.
With blood cancer it’s not automatic that when you have the required funds that you will be able to be treated. This because the patient need transplant of the bone marrow to replace that of the sick person with the normal one.
Lucky enough the Bishop narrated that it was a miracle for him that the London doctors got the bone marrow that was exactly matching his and they manage to carry out the transplant.
The Kampala assistant Bishop says that his blood group was AB+ but now after the transplant of the bone marrow, he is now blood group O, thank God for such a miracle.
Bishop Mutebi was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 and was written off by Kampala doctors but he managed to survive the monster by God’s grace and he is serving.
He said that media channels like Bukedde had even announced his death yet he was alive receiving treatment in London.
