SC VILLA TITLE CHANCES THREATENED BY NEC FC

By George Bukenya

As the Startimes Uganda Premier league come to it’s climax, SC Villa (JOGOOs) chances of winning this year’s title are threatened by the bogie new entrants NEC FC whom they are facing in their last game of this season’s campaign.

Villa’s win over URA early this week kept them on track to extend their title record to 17league trophies and will be their first in twenty years if they manage to hammer NEC FC at Lugogo Omondi stadium this Saturday, thanks to a draw for Bul FC and a loss to Kitara FC who have since slit to the 3rd and 4th positions respectively.

The Jogoos are at the summit of the table at 54 points while the defending champions Vipers SC are tied up with BUL FC at 53 and Kitara 51. All the first four times on the table have chances of winning this season’s title.

This means the ball is in the hands of Villa themselves as Mandela’s boys just have to hammer NEC and claim the title regardless of what would have transpired in other matches of rival challengers.

If Villa losses to NEC and Vipers win the former will be retaining their title but if they also lose their last fixture then the Jinja based side BUL FC will walk away with it.

In the other last fixtures Vipers will be entertaining Mbarara City at St. Mary’s Kitende, while BUL FC will be visiting Busoga United in a derby and the entrance here will be free.

The relegation battle is between Busoga United, Gadaffi who are both tied at 25 points while UPDF is at 24 points and two clubs of the three that will doze have to join Arua Hill who has already been relegated.
