The Democratic President who also doubles as the Minister of Justice and Constitution Affairs Hon. Norbert Mao those who want to remove President Museveni and his NRM government from power are day dreaming if the laws that give him absolute powers are not amended.
Moa said that not even the character or radicalism can remove Museveni from power because this has been tried for years and it has failed. It`s from this point of view that he is calling political leaders to embrace and advocate strongly the amendment of the law to allow fair play in politics.
While presiding over the swearing in of his party`s interim leaders of Kampala at the party Balintuma Road second home in Namirembe Rubaga Division, Mao said that if the law doesn’t change, Museveni will announce himself as the winner then those contesting the result will still go to court like it has been the case in the past but he will decide the court ruling.
He also said that come 2026 if the existing supreme law remain intact, the runners-up will be at house arrest immediately after elections, court case will be decided by the Judge who are chosen by Museveni at he will still come out victorious.
“ I joined government to be near President Museveni such that I can be able to tell him about the need to have a transition government that will help to shape the political future of this country before things go Balzac.’’ Hon. Mao said.
He further said that, “ anybody who doesn’t advocate for change of law that will help alter the whole process of voting in the country is day dreaming.’’
The eloquent seasonal Politian reasoned that there’s no NRM member of Parliament who will enact a law that will remove him/her or even the ruling government from power unless we get a transition government that will help to change everything that isn’t going on well the political landscape of the country.
“ Change in Uganda now can’t come out of voting but rather through negotiations just like Buganda Kingdom did and its officials succeeded and the monarchy was reinstated through the negotiation means.’’ Mao reasoned.
Let us not lose the direction, we need to get our priorities right in this country otherwise we are bound to face a political crises.’’ He said.
He warned the other political parties whom he said are provoking him yet he has all the information about them that if he decides to expose it will not ogre well.
Mao branded other opposition political parties fake saying that DP has worked with each of them and found that there methods are took poor and that is why he decided to cooperate with the ruling NRM party and push for peaceful change of government.
He said that some DP members of Parliament are hypocrites because before signing a cooperation agreement with President Museveni he called them at Hotel Africa and showed them what was at stake but they just turned around to blackmail him that he sold the party to NRM.
