A total of 52 nationals who contributed significantly to the Bush war that brought NRM government in power will also be awarded different medals on the same day.

The Secretary for the presidential awards committee Zaminah Malole who also address reporters in the same press conference said that the criteria for selecting the deserving individuals to be awarded medals is transparent. She revealed that honors and awards are given to individuals as an appreciation by government for their contribution towards national development.

“Medalist are nominated and proposed by different individuals, district committees, and NGOs and they are vetted then forwarded to the president by the awards committee for approval and thereafter  gazetted  in the national gazette,’’ she said.

She also said that these awards carry no monetary benefits and they just appreciations because money may not be meaningful to some individual who are well off.
