Uganda’s first Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga condemns the burning of Uganda House Building located on Kenyatta Avenue in the Nairobi Central Business District. The incident occurred on 25th June 2024 as violence enter day four that started in the Kenyan capital and has now spread to other major cities.
While presiding over at the East African Community Post Budget Dialogue at Hotel Africana she said that the incident is regrettable and it portrays a bad picture as far as the community is concerned.
“ Such incidence kills the spirit of EAC integration yet as the respective Line ministers, have been working hard to see that this is achieved very well because we are just starting to realize part of the fruits of integration like widening of the market for goods and services after admission of more members like Dr. Cong and Somalia.’’ Rt. Hon. Kadaga stated.
However, Kadaga refuted the analogy that such acts if prolonged will affect Uganda’s trade and the economy at large sound adamant that Uganda’s trade with the Kenya will remain steadfast despite fears by traders who use that route.
Sarah Opendi the legislator for Tororo District also condemned that acts of violence by Kenyan rioters who burnt Uganda’s commercial building warning Uganda government also to listen to people’s needs saying that Uganda isn’t prone to such acts.

“ I ask government to listen and put in much efforts in fighting corruption tendencies especially among government officials and politicians without fear of favor, even the so called big fish should confronted by the IGG is the country is to achieve its objective of ending the virus of corruption,’’ Opendi said.
She condemned the utterance of some legislators who condoned the acts of corruption by Rwengo Woman Member of Parliament Cissy Namujju who said the legislator obtains money through such corruptions methods and take to the constituency to share with her voters.
Earlier in the day the incident was confirmed by Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Bagire Vicent Waiswa in a press released he issued in midmorning whose soft copy has been attained by this website.
The 6-follow Uganda House Commercial Building was slated for reopening this Friday 28th June 2024 just after its renovation which consumed huge tax payers’ funds. The statement reads in parts.
