Former SC Villa defender Keneth Semakula has joined Tunisian Club Esperance on a two years contract subject to renewal basing on his performance but the fees are not dislosed.
Villa lost transfer fees having failed to renew his contract and went as a free agent basing all the sign on fees.
This is the fifth player from Uganda to play their trade football in Tunisia
the pioneer being Jackson Mayanja (Mia Mia) in the 1990s. Others are Emmanuel Okwi, Richard Kasagga, Yunus Sentamu and Meddie Kagere.
Mayanja one of the best talent Uganda has ever had played for Club Esperance, Emmanuel Okwi(Etoile du Sahel), Yunus Sentamu(Es Staxien), Richard Kasagga (Olympique Beja).
Although Semakula is a central defender, he can also play in the central middle field as well as a full back making him a utility defender.
The 1.8 feet tall cranes defender joined SC Villa in August 2021 from Nakawa 4th Division tier but his first semi professional club failed to convince him to renew his contract which expired on May 30, 2024.
Esperance one of the oldest football clubs in Africa was inaugurated in 1919 and is coached by the former Real Madrid assistant Coach David Bettoni. They finished in 6th position in 2023/2024 Tunisia elite league.
