Machete-welding Men back in Ssembabule District

Residents of Kanoni, Ntete and Kabale Villages in Lwebitakuli Sub-County in Ssebabule District are living in fear after machete welding men attacked them cutting and robbing.

The robbers in the wee hours of Monday attacked residents of Kanoni and Kabale robbing two residents of unspecified physical cash and House hold properties.

Again in the wee hours of Tuesday they also attack residents of Kabale village in the same sub-county where they broke into Vicente Lukyamuzi’s house cutting him and his wife Juliet Nagirinya made an alarm this prompted the assailants to cut her also on the fore head and arms. From here they proceeded to Shafic Mohamed who runs a music library and they robbed him OF UGX 620,000 and other items.

The robbers freed the area after Nagirinya continued to make alarm which caused the neighbors came to f rescue their fellow resident.

Godfrey Tumwekwase the chairman of Kabale village confirmed the attack and that his residents are living in great fear.

He said that Nagirinya made the alarm while running to his home and he managed to mobilize other residents but by the time they reach at Lukyamuzi’s the robbers had freed the area.

The Police Spokesperson of Kyoteera Twaha Kasirye said that they have already gathered enough intelligence information which will guide them to arrest and prosecute the culprits.

He also said that unlike in the past were the machete welding men were attacking residents in the greater Masaka without stealing any this, the information gathered by police so far indicate that these are robbers.

The deputy RDC of Ssembabule Seruwagi said that the joint security team have already started investigations leading to the arrest of the gangsters.

” According to the information gathered, indicates that these people born in the sub-country who get to know residents who have sold either coffee or an animal through their own intelligence also and the plan to attack and rob him or her in the wee hours of night, ” Seruwagi said.

He warned parents and relatives of these suspects as well as the area local council officials not to interfere with the security work when arrests have commenced because enough investigations have been made.
