The National Patriotism boss commissioner Hellen Seku has urged Bodaboda riders to always be watchful on criminal elements who want to spoil their business to avoid losing customers.
As trained patriots, you should always drive with care and avoid reckless behaviors while on roads. You should also be watchful over criminal elements that hide in your work disguising as Bodaboda riders and the target robbing people along the way.’’ Seku cautioned
She also assured them that she will be lobbying from President Museveni such that each of them gets a new free motor cycle so as to boost their income level that this will enable them to serve their country as patriots.
Seku made the caution while handing over wind shielding gargets to the Bodaboda riders who were trained as patriots from Kampala Central and Wakiso at the event that occurred at Pan African Square in Kampala last Saturday.
The commissioner also hailed the riders for their transformation after attending the patriotism training held at Oliva Reginald Tambo Leadership School-Kaweweta-Bulemezi recently encouraging them to embrace unity and patriotism core values.
“ I really commend you, the Bodaboda riders for your changed behaviors since President Museveni offered you patriotism training at Kaweweta. You transformed people who are truly commendable. We therefor thank the president for not only empowering you with patriotism knowledge but for also reducing the license fees a good gesture that has reduced your financial burden.’’ She stated.
Seku also cautioned the riders to avoid multiple sexual engagement because Aids is still existing and a threat to the lives of people or they can use protective gears.
The chairman of Kampala Bodaboda riders Association Frank Mawejje also thanked the president for availing his members the training opportunity but vowed to fight and eliminate the wrong elements from the industry.
“ We will not allow criminal elements to continue in our business because this is where we derive our livelihood. Having received such a training we are now more equipped to fight the vice so as to clean our work.’’ Mawejje vowed.
Kampala Central Division Mayor Saalim Uhuru also urged the riders to always follow the traffic rules and regulations because this will help them to save lives and also stay long in business and as well gain from it.
He also encouraged them to avoid subversive tendencies and embrace all government programs because these can help them to diversify their incomes and be able to live at least a modest life.
