President Yeweri Kaguta Museveni has warned the military, especially those in high positions, not to be tempted to learn from corruption because corruption is the cause of Uganda’s decline.
Museveni said corruption has started learning from the security agencies which prevents them from disrupting services in the security agencies as it is in other government agencies where corruption is rampant and they are fighting against the disease.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was speaking at the graduation ceremony of the Army graduates at the National Defense College Njeru in Buikwe.
Museveni urged the military personnel not to engage in corruption in the offices assigned to them.
President Museveni was speaking after the IGG report revealed that the country is losing Rwf 10 trillion per month due to corruption in several government departments.
Museveni condemned the leaders who are begging the British to steal them but they can work on their own problems.
Defense Minister Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja said the institute would be used to train the army to become better across East Africa.
Commander Chief of Defense Force Lt General Wilson Mbadi(CDF) said they aim to turn the university into a university and it will be the main university where they will educate the army in valuable subjects.
Head of the institute Maj General Ben Francis Okello said the graduates include Col. Edith Nakalema, Flavia Byekwaso and many others.
