Having lost the first game, Uganda’s She Cranes registered it second successive win by thumping Eswatini to book a place in the semi-final in the 2024 Africa Netball Cup happening in Namibia.
The She Cranes was dominant throughout the four quarters; leading the opening stanza 27-03. By half-time, the margin had stretched to 48-13 and it looked destined that Uganda was pushing for a killer to raise more goals. After the third quarter, Uganda further stretched the lead to 63-25. The half time score read in bold 85-34 for Uganda’s second victory at the continental netball fiesta.
The Uganda She Cranes was in bullish mood; humbling Eswatini 85-34 during the 2024 Africa Netball Cup at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund municipality, Namibia on Thursday, 12th December.
The technical team made two introductions with Mercy Batamuliza (wing attack) and Goalkeeper Faridah Kadondi for Joyce Nakibuule and Hanisha Muhammad respectively.
The rest of the team members were maintained Mary Nuba (goalkeeper shooter), Irene Eyaru (goalkeeper), Margaret Bagala (center) and Gloria Aya (wing defender).
The half time score read in bold 85-34 for Uganda’s second victory at the continental netball show, after narrowly losing its opener to Zimbabwe 49-50 and beating the host Namibia 43-55 in her second game.
Uganda has scored a total of 189 goals in three goals and conceded 127 which leaves a difference of 62.
Eswatini had also lost 27-75 and 47-58 to Zimbabwe and Namibia in the earlier matches.
The She Cranes will know their opponent in the semi-final after the final games in pool one that has leaders South Africa, Malawi, Zambia and Kenya.
