AGGRAVATED ROBBERY AT NSAMBIA CELL AWINDIRI WARD, ARUA CENTRAL DIVISION, ARUA CITY, A BUSINESS MAN ROBBED OF MORE THAN 400 MILLION

The Territorial Police in Arua City is investigating an aggravated robbery that occurred on November 23, 2023, at Nsambia Cell, Awindiri Ward, Arua Central Division.

Two unidentified men, armed with a pistol and SMG rifle, riding a motorcycle with a partially covered number plate (UFW), attacked Vijey Kumar, an Indian businessman, and his driver, Charles Kabimwene, a Congolese national.

The victims, driving a white Mark X, registration number UBM 913F, resisted stopping, prompting the robbers to fire two bullets, shattering the windscreen. The assailants robbed them of approximately 420,000,000/= (four hundred and twenty million shillings). A case of aggravated robbery has been registered, and efforts are underway to arrest the suspects.

Investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile in Mayuge, the territorial Police are also investigating another aggravated robbery involving Jasmine Gajjar, an Indian cashier at GM Sugar Factory’s Weigh Bridge in Girigiri village, Mayuge Town Council, on November 24, 2023.

The perpetrators, wearing attire resembling Army uniforms, hijacked Gajjar, who was driving a white M/V Wish, and robbed him of 65 million Ugandan shillings. However one suspect, Iwubwe, has been arrested and is in custody to assist with investigations.
