The territorial Police at Old Kampala would like to inform the public that the suspects involved in stealing money amounting to 27 million from a motor vehicle belonging to Kigundu Joseph on November 3rd, 2022, at Rubaga Kabusu, have been arrested.
On April 17th, 2023, the suspects were intercepted by the public while attempting to steal another motor vehicle in Mengo. The public had decided to take the law into their hands and practice mob action against them. However, the police were informed promptly, and we responded and managed to arrest them. They are currently detained at Old Kampala Police Station, and they have been identified as Muhumuza Alex, Kigozi Derrick, Muzamiru, and Hassan Mutyaba.
Exhibits of fake number plates and car-breaking implements were all recovered, and photos were taken. We also managed to recover the motor vehicle used in the commission of the offenses with registration number UBE 029V.
We would like to commend the concerned citizens who helped in the arrest of the suspects and caution the public against taking the law into their hands. We assure the public that inquiries into the matter are ongoing, and the suspects will be arraigned in court to answer to the charges.
Deputy police spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire said,we urge the public to continue cooperating with the police in ensuring the safety and security of our communities.
