ASP TWESIGYE AND SGT AMPUMUZA DISMISSED FROM POLICE FORCE FOR VIOLATING FIREARMS POLICY AND ATTEMPTED MURDER

Assistant superintendent of police, Twesigye Julius was arrest and put behind bars and suspended from duty for pending Police disciplinary and criminal court actions against him for miss use of fire arm contrary to the fire arms policy that guides forces in the use of the ammunition while during their line of duty.

According to the Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, Twesigye drew his pistol threatening to shoot assistant inspector of police a one Aya for allegedly refusing to extend a police bond to a suspect who was supposed to appear in court to answer charges of cattle safety.

While addressing reporter at Naguru in a weekly security press brief, SCP Enanga said that Twesigye became aggressive and threatened to shoot anyone who attempted to disarm him. However the officer has been suspended from duty pending police disciplinary and court action against him.

In a similar incidence, Sgt. Ampumuza Mahaba is also behind bars having been arrested for attempting to kill civilians who were taking alcohol in a bar in Rusheshe Ibanda District.

While at Genius bar, Ampumuza who was in charge of  Rusheshe Police Station embroiled in a fight allegedly for a woman but after being out muscled, he left in hunger went back home and picked a gun came back to the bar and shot three bullets but fortunately no one was injured.

The area DPC and his team swung into action and managed to disarm and handcuffed him after which he put him in cells awaiting to appear in police disciplinary court after which he will also be committed to conventional court to answer charges of miss use of the gun.

Enanga said that, ”the two errant police officers will be dismissed from police force after affair hearing in the force’s disciplinary court because the institution policy has zero tolerance against miss conduct and unprofessional behavior.

He also said that what the two policemen did violated the fire arms policy and trust of the public and they will not only be discharge from the force, but will be aligned to courts of law as well.
