John Kabanda the Kampala New Generation Traders Association court case has taken a new twist as Counsel Dousman Kabega demand a fresh re-examination of the plaintiff.
Magistrate Nambozo granted Kabega’s demand and adjourned the court until August 1, 2023 when the two sides will return to court and the accuser Kabanda will be give his side of the theft story afresh.
However Kabanda after the court session addressed reporters and sounded very confident that he will get justice and score the victory against tycoon Christine Nabukeera.
In October 2020 after the 1st lockdown, Kabanda the chairman of Kampala New Generation Traders Association committed Nabukeera a real Estate developer and his son Vincent Mawanda to court accusing them of breaking into his shop number D21 which was housed at Nanana Centre along Nabugabo road in the city Centre.
Nabukeera and her son Mawanda were arrested and court remanded them and they spent some days in Luzira prisons but where later granted court bail and since then the case has drugged on to date has so far been handled by three magistrates including the Buganda Road Chief Gladys Kamasanyu who quite the case after Kabanda asking her to quit citing unfairness.
Kabanda told court that Nabukeera and her son Mawanda stole his marchandize worth Ushs 175 M and hard cash both in local and foreign currencies and he claims that the hard cash was for members of his organization the Kampala New Generation Traders Association.
Meanwhile Paul Nsereko a trader is also battling in court with a similar case in which he accuses Francis Kakama of stealing his merchandize worth Ushs 19M while he was operating his shop on Kabale Arcade located in Kikuubo.
Nsereko committed Kakama a former manager of the building from which he was doing his business to court also in 2020. The building was owned by Tycoon Kagolo before being bought by Drake Lubega.
