Corruption in Goverment hospitals has caused ugandans to die without anyone helping them

The Ministry of Health has urged Ugandans to work together to fight corruption in hospitals, especially to report doctors who ask for bribes to treat patients in order to contribute to the health sector in the country.

The permanent Secretary for Ministry of Health, Dr. Diana Atwine was speaking at the Prime Minister’s Office here during the week the NRM government is observing what the country has done on what it promised when it came to power for the 2021/2026 term.

Dr. A.S. Diana Atwine, permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Health, said Ugandans are complaining about excessive corruption in hospitals where doctors are asking for drugs to treat them and they are handing them over instead of showing them to the law which would help eradicate the practice.

Atwine said he fights corruption everywhere he works and even when he worked at Mulago he fought hard to ensure that this practice goes away by telling patients about doctors who ask for bribes to treat them and he arrested many doctors.

Atwine said the ministry has decided to rectify all the irregularities in the health sector in the country and the reforms include the removal of ambulances that have been transporting patients to get treatment because they were not up to standard.

Atwine urged Ugandans to be more sick as they do not know that most diseases come from poor diet and urged people to be careful in their diet as this will help them fight diseases in the body as the government no longer has the money to buy medicines.

He concluded by urging everyone to know where they are treated for their painful diseases such as cancer patients to know where they are treated and not to go to Health Center 4 because there is no cure for cancer and other diseases so help them get proper treatment.
