Criminal Gang Engaging in Car Robbery Foiled by Police 13 Suspected arrested

Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested and detained 13 suspects who are alleged to be involved in motor vehicle robbery in the various parts of the country.

This follows an operation carried out on 3th June, 2024 by the Flying Squad unit against motor vehicle thefts in areas of Bunamwaya, Kawempe, Kalerwe, Mukono and Ndeeba which led to the arrest of 13 suspects.

The suspects are identified as Musinguzi Julius,  Ssemyalo Rashid,  Kasibante Stephen, Kibuuka Siraji,  Kyazze Sammy,  Bukenya Bashir, Mukasa Wamala,  Kyazze Kennedy,  Wandera John,  Lubega Jerry, 8) Nabuyondo Teddy, Bijumbuko Paul and  Anguzo Moses.

According to the Police Spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke, the operation also led to the recovery of the following Motor Vehicles; UAP 042N Noah grey in colour SSD 992BC Vitz grey, UBD 592G Probox grey  UAX 108E Noah grey, Spacio grey  UAX 827P Isuzu Forward, UAG 608C Isuzu Forward and UAP 042N.

While addressing reporters and Police Headqurters in Naguru Kutuuma said that, Motor vehicle UAP 042N Noah was stolen from Kumi. It was originally on Reg no. UAS043Z. A case of aggravated robbery was investigated vide by police CID at Kumi Police station ref: CRB 365/2024. Amoit George and Taika Godfrey were arrested and committed to court which remanded them at Kumi prisons.

Motor vehicle UAX 827P Isuzu was stolen from Kakumiro District and its original registration number is UBN 736K.

The flying squad team also managed to disorganize criminal activities by some of the gangs that operate in Central and Western region of Uganda. One of them is allegedly commanded by a one Wandera John who is now in police’s custody.

There is a group that is suspected for being behind the stealing of Lorries and selling them in Kampala and DRC. As a result, the following persons are in custody to help us with investigations into that matter; Kyazze Kennedy, Lubega Jerry, Nabuyondo Teddy, Bijumbuko Paul, Anguzo Moses and Ssekyanda Drake.

Mr. Kituuma implored car owners to exploit target hardening techniques for instance the installation of car tracker devices which he said make it easy for police to tracker stolen motor vehicle.
