DEMOCRATIC PARTY CALL UPON UK TO ALSO SLAP SANCTIONS ON PRIME MINISTER NABBANJA

The Democratic Party has called on Foreign governments such as UK to also sanction the Prime Minister Robina Nabbanja for being implicated in the Mabaati bonanza saga.

 Speaking to reporters at City House based Party offices in Kampala, Ismail Kirya the acting party spokesperson said other government officials should also be investigated by the IGG to ascertain their properties abroad.

“As DP we are arguing President Museveni if he is really committed to fighing corruption to direct IGG to critically investigate all other government officials, their family members and even members of the first family about the properties they have in Foreign Countries.” Kirya said.

He further said, ” government should revisit the Mabaati saga without fear or favor such that all the implicated ministers and officials are investigated and if found guilty be prosecuted.”

Kirya who is also the President of Africa young Democrats said the sanction to be speaker by UK government is a very serious matter that is affecting the country for instance as she has just presided over the international Speakers Conference hosted by the country two months ago has implications in that if the next conference is hosted in UK Rt. Hon Among will not represent the country.

The Deputy Inspector General of Government (IGG) Dr.Patricia Achan Okiria confirmed to the president that the speaker didn’t declare the properties she has abroad yet the law requires all government officials to declare their wealth regardless of where they are located.

Office of the IGG had also initiated the life style investigation specifically on government officials geared towards ascertaining how they behave in terms of spending time of acquisition of properties verse personal income but the president cautioned the IGG to go slow down.

President Museveni directed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen. Jeje Odong to write to the Authorities in the UK Government asking them to give the detailed information regarding the allegations against the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Anita Among.

However the Speaker have since denied the allegations against her by the UK authorities asserting that she has no any asset in such a country that she is being winch hunted for allowing the Anti Homosexuality bill to be passed and Enacted into law.

“I have had that the reason why i have been sanction by UK Government is because of the allegations that i posse a lot of assets in such a country inform of buildings and bank accounts. Unfortunately, i have no even a single asset in UK .” Among told MPs.
