FIFTEEN HARDCORE CRIMINALS ARRESTED- ASSORTED POLICE AND MILITARY EQUIPMENT RECOVERED

In response to the recent increase in reported criminal activities, the territorial police at Kira Division have successfully carried out an intelligence-led operation today, resulting in the arrest of 15 suspected hardcore criminals.

In the operation that took place in Nsawo Zone, Kyaliwajala Ward, Namugongo Division, Wakiso District, Police have arrested 15 suspected hardcore criminals.

This follows the recent increase in reported criminal activities and public outcry compelled police to carry out an intelligence lead operation on 27th May, 2024.  

The suspects arrested have been identified as follows: Syino Michael, Katumba Ashraf alias Cobbler (a known serial offender), Esere Hassan, Olowo Abeneko, Kasoma Emmanuel, Safari Yona Bukenya, Mudasiru Mudu, Salim Sekandi, Mustafa Kikawa, Stanley Kabuye, Ronald Vumbi, Enock Nuwe, John Benjamin Sali and Kyasanku Godfrey.

During the operation, suspected narcotic substances and house-breaking implements were also recovered.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire told reporters in a police statement he released that more details will be provided after more investigations are done.

“ These operations are part of our ongoing efforts to ensure security as we gear up for the celebrations of Martyrs Day.’’ Owoyesigyire said.

In other related operations by police, the Central Police Station Kampala have successfully recovered several items of military and police wear.

The operation, which was conducted also on 27th May, 2024 at around 11:00 AM, led to the recovery of the following items from shop no. 113B, Angel Plaza, Nabugabo Road: 571 pairs of assorted shoes 1 pair of army-like uniform 1 army jacket 1 army mobile mattress

The shop belongs to an individual identified only as Agrey. The items were being sold illegally at the premises.

“This operation underscores our commitment to ensuring the security and safety of our community by preventing the unauthorized distribution of military and police attire.’’ Owoyesigyire said

 “We commend the efforts of our officers and the intelligence team for their diligence and swift action. Investigations are ongoing, and we urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.“
