Former Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Maj. Gen. Gregory Mugisha Muntu who is the founding and acting President of Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) Party says that Gen. Muhoozi’s Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) pressure group is a deception group put in place to divert people especially the youth from advocating for change.
While answering question on asked to by CBS FM radio station reporter Lukyamuzi charles the bush war General said that PLU will take the country into poor political situations and people shouldn’t believe in it that they should advocate for the overhauling of the country’s political leadership.
Individuals and some senior NRM cadres who claim to be supporting Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba to take over the highest office of leadership in the country launched PLU in early February this year and have since have been in different parts of the country selling their ideas.
He also said that if president Museveni leave power the ruling NRM party will collapse because its ideologies are out dated and its chairman has built it on patronage which makes it lack pillars of a genuine political party.
Gen. Muntu also said that as opposition political parties are working towards removing President Museveni and his NRM from power, they should also focus on how they will maintain a strong and stable government to avoid incidences that are occurring in other African Countries were presidents have been removed forcefully.
“ We want to change power as a party but we are not in a hurry. We are putting our focus on building strong pillars for our party that is why we are moving to Sub-counties and our coordinators to parishes selling our ideology so as to attract people to supporter our party, those who will face challenges and persevere’’ Gen. Munt said.
He further said, “ We want to change the mindset of patronage which president Museveni is riding on such that people can know that in a political party leaders come and go and also others take over its leadership.’’
He also said that those who want to take over power so quickly are free to pursue that path but his ANT party is focusing on pillar that can support the `roof’.
