Head Teacher of in Kayunga District was arrested by the territorial police for allegedly involving in PLE examination malpractice practice on 6TH November, 2024 while the three school staff teachers who were caught in action are on the run.
Annet Namakula the Head Teacher OF Lion of Juda Elementary School located in Kyampisi, Kayunga Sub-country, Kayunga District was arrested by Police after a whistle blower alerted the District internal Security Officer (DISO) who quickly swung into action and immediately nabbing three staff teachers who were writing answer in the purportedly PLE examination question papers.
The DISO asked the teachers identified as Samuel Ngobi, Rogers Kyondo and Julius Olunu to take him to the head teacher’s office and in the process they vanished mysteriously and area police as mounted a search for them.
The UNEB’s Principal Public Relations Officer Jennifer Kalule who spoke to the reporter of this web site confirmed the arrest of the Head Teacher and said that the three teachers who are still at large were also of the same school.
She also said that the question papers that the three teachers were found with had arrangement of questions exactly tallying with those of the UNEB’s Mathematics PLE examination and the examination body will use its internal investigation to find out whether the papers were real PLE examination before taking the suspects to court.
Police spokesperson of Ssezibwa Region SP Hellen Butoto said that at around 10:00 am on the 6th November when PLE examinations commenced, the District Internal Security Officer of Kayunga received information regarding suspected examination malpractice taking place at the said school and he promptly visited the school premises.
According to Butoto, the DISO found the three teachers preparing answer sheets for both Section A and B of the Mathematics Examination suspected to be for the 2024 UNEB PLE.
After arresting the head teacher, police also summoned UNEB staffs assigned to Lion of Juda Elementary School to provide statements as part of the inquiry.
Meanwhile UACE examinations have also kicked off today with the briefing of candidates and writing of real examinations will start on Monday 11th , 2024.
