IF YOU WANT THEM GO AND DISTRIBUTE THEM TO SCHOOLS AND HOSPITALS – NAKADAMA

today the presidential committee in the national assembly met with the third deputy prime minister Rukia Nakadama on the issue of karamoja bricks.

Nakadama explained that last year 2022 her area experienced rains that stripped bricks from various buildings including hospitals, schools, and churches. He also said that this prompted him to turn to the Minister of Education and Sports and First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni for help but she also told him that he had no wisdom and promised him nothing.

This forced him to turn to Minister Mary Gorreti Kituttu who also ordered him to put his request in writing and also investigate him.

Nakadama told the committee that this year her assistant received news that her boss had received bricks and called her to inform her about the phone call, but he allowed her to go and collect the aid.

However, some MPs sitting on the committee including chairperson Jesca Ababiku urged him to explain why he did not write to the Ministry of Forests, rather than the Minister of Karamoja Affairs who has his responsibilities. Others asked him if he still has the ability to oversee the work of the Karamoja Ministry and other things.

Prime Minister Nakadama said she had a problem with not being able to run to one place and that she had also written to the prime minister ‘s office but had not received any help

The MPs also asked him for his views on the transfer of aid to other areas , he said this would affect the work because there are those in need at that time and it would be good to be considered even though they were not in the plan

Also asked by MPs about replacing the bricks or buying more , Nakadama said it would be based on their considerations in the report. He added that if they wanted they could go and strip them of the buildings he used but that he could not afford to buy more bricks and the ones they gave him seemed to be where they were going.
