JOEL SSENYONYI NEW OPPOSITION LEADER IN PARLIAMENT AND MATHIAS MPUUGA IS NOW A COMMISSIONER

Nakawa West constituency MP Joel Ssenyonyi who also has been been serving as chairman of the Committee on Commission,Statutory, Authority and State Enterprises (COSASE) has been nominated as the new Leader of Opposition in the 11th Parliament.

Ssenyonyi replaced Mathew’s Mpuuga who has been at the helm for the last two and a half years ago. The later has been nominated as Commissioner of parliament.

Democratic Party’s Paul Lutamaguzi Ssemakula Katikamu North Mp is the new shadow Minister for Land, Housing and Urban Development, Betty Nambooze Bakireke (Internal Affairs), Zake Butebo (Presidency and Security), Sewungu Gonzaga (Education), Nsubuga Balimwezo (KCCA), Suzan Mugabi(Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries).

The Party President Robert Kyagulanyi in his remarks cautioned Ssenyonyi to always consult his predecessor and other experienced opposition MP when he encounters challenges.

“Being new in Parliament and taking such a big leadership position, you are justified to worry because the shoes you are fitting in are  big, but you have  even a bigger reason to be confident now that you’re surrounded with resources, love and support.” Kyagulanyi comforted him.

He further said,” you will deliver beyond your imagination due to a wealth of resourceful people around you and you will also learn another from them.”

The outgoing LoP Mpuuga pledged to back up his predisessor and to always advise him just in case he seeks his backup knowledge.

” Our journey is not for positions but making Uganda a better country to live in, I want to invite all people who believe in new and a better nation to back up the incoming LoP in Parliament and his new team. ”  Hon.Mpuuga cautioned.

He added on l, will Backup him don’t undermine him or backstab him. I will continue serving my party with due diligent because the struggle to liberate our country still continues.”

Ssenyonyi in his remarks saluted the outgoing LoP for persevering in the difficult situation when the masses had huge expectations.

“I want to commend Hon.Mpuuga for being resilient even in difficult situations. Sometimes he was expected to do work that government should be doing he bearded that burden but remained strong. ” Ssenyonyi said.

He also exercised humility when he said he is an experienced and he needs Mpuuga’ so assistance and that he will be consulting him time and again for knowledge and way of doing things
