KAMPALA INSTITUTE OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS TAKES FREE MEDICAL SERVICES TO PEOPLE IN KAMPALA METROPOLITAN

As Uganda is working tooth and nail to end the HIV Aids infections and spread, Kampala Institute of Health Professionals (KIHP) has organized country wide Health Camps which are commencing on 1st December 2023 in Makindye Urban Division and it will be rolled out to other Divisions and Kampala Metropolitan.

The health camps are targeting especially men to make them appreciate the need to test for HIV and encourage them to always seek for medical care whenever they get health problems.

Andrew Walugembe the marketing manager at KIHP said that apart from screening of some disease like cancer, at the Health Camps, there will also be Trade Expos and trainings aimed at equipping people with Entrepreneurship related skills and skills relating to prevention of diseases through using natural edible things.

“ Kampala Institute of Health Professionals does not only train Health Workers to use medicine but also trains them to make drugs using the local raw materials as well as demonstrating this in the camps to make the masses appreciate the need to use nature to stay alive.” Walugembe said.

He further said that Uganda Blood Bank workers will also use the opportunity to collected blood from those who will be willing to donate and there will also be free circumcision.

Catherine Natukunda a counsellor at Joy Medical Centre said that medical workers from her medical facility will be administering the circumcision called upon men to embrace this exercise because its aimed at reducing both HIV infections and cervical cancer infections and spreading.

“In the Health Camp`In the Health Camp we want to put our emphasis on men because they are those who are not circumcised are at a high risk of acquiring HIV as compared to their circumcised counterparts and they also serve as couriers to cervical cancer due to their foreskin of their penis which hides the virus and then it gets transmitted to women during sex intercourse.” Natukunda said.

Maviiri Edmund Andrew the Director of Seeta Forest Group which make Herbal Medicine said that at Camp the masses will be given knowledge and skills on how to make and use food staffs to prevent and treat diseases like prostrate cancer and diabetes.

He said there are plants and trees which people are ignorant of but they are superb in treatment of diseases and they will also be unveiled and people will have a chance of getting them at small fee.

Dr. Chris Kagarura a researcher at Complete Wellness Group which make Herbal Medicine in form of Tablets , Capsules and powder, said his company will also be demonstrating on how they make these drugs using the Hot Spring Technology.

He said that their main focus in research is now aimed at discovering Herbal Medicine for treating of breast cancer, HIV and Diabetes to help Ugandans reduce on the risks involved in taking conventional drugs like development of cancer.
