Kattikiro Mayiga Argues Youth to Take Sports as an Employment Opportunity

The Kattikiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga has argued the youth to fight and discover their sports talent at a very youthful stage because this will help them gain from it.

He said that research has reveals that over 80% of people who succeed in life discover their talents at a very tender age and start developing them right away something that have help them to succeed in life over time.

While officiating at the launch of Masaza Cup tournament that is slated to kick off this weekend, the Kattikiro argued that talent have become a job and thus an income generating feature and if well-developed individuals can derive a livelihood.

“Although here in Uganda people like giving an example of Green Hill Schools arguing that the owners started after retiring and they succeeded but research indicate that over 80% of successful people start at early age, He said that what is important with young people is that they have the ability to notice an opportunity and take decision to put that to full use.” The Kattikiro reasoned.

He further said, “The Masaza Cup tournament is an opportunity which is silent. Opportunities are always silent they never pronounce their presence but one just need to discover them.”

He also advised young people to embrace the tournament because it will help them to break through the higher ranks like Uganda Premier league, National team and European professional league.

“Sports in no longer an activity for enjoyment but rather a job which must be taken seriously if one is to realize fruits from it. It also units the country and government can realize revenue from it in form of taxes.” He said.

The Kattikiro also re-echo and emphasized the need to keep maximum discipline as a key rule teams to succeed and he said that every stake holder must adhere to this principle, the players, administrators, referees and fans.

In the last edition a total of 320, 742 fans watched the games live while it’s estimated that six million people follow the tournament via social media live broadcast and telecast.

The Kingdom’s Minister in charge of sports Robert Sserwanga said that the Masaza Football tournament has become very attractive and loveable by the football fraternity and he will work towards enhancing it such that local people will cherish more than the England Premier league.

The Minister also revealed that a total of 104 matches will be played in this edition within 19 match days and all the 18 countries will participate in this 20th edition.

Rummy Kisakye Magistic Brands Manager said that Masaza Cup Tournament is a big football tournament in the country because this is evidenced in the number of National team prayers who have been nurture by the annual event where she singled out Farouk Miya who help Uganda qualify for Afcon for the first time after 48.

The Vice Chairman Technical who represent the chairman of the organizing committee Festus Kirumira said that the tournament will feature a total of 450 players and each team will  be required to registered only 25 players. Mr.Kirumira also revealed that teams administrators this time round don’t need to travel to Kampala they will register online and the system take between 2-3 hours.

Defending champion Bulemezi Fc will play with Buruli in the opening match of this year’s addition at Luweero Ssaza play grounds this Saturday.
