Lord Mayor’s boys, KCCA FC dropped valuable points in their bid for this year’s league title after playing out a one-all draw against Blacks Power on Wednesday in Lira.
The game played at Akii-Bua Stadium saw KCCA drop two valuable points and remain second on the log behind leaders SC Villa the most successful club in Uganda elite football history who look to be rejuvenated to fight for the titles although the later have played more two games.
The ‘Kasasiro’ Boys went into today’s fixture just after a frustrating draw at home to Maroons FC last week yet they had a chance of leapfrogging Villa from the summit today.
Therefore, the game against Blacks Power presented an opportunity to close gap on SC Villa who won 1-0 against stubborn Bright Stars on Tuesday to stretch their lead at the summit despite KCCA FC having two games in hand.
Blacks Power marched KCCA FC for the bigger part of the game and even took the lead through Robert Eseru as early as the seventh minute.
Haruna Lukwago lost possession in his own half to Denis Otim who set Eseru through and the latter did no mistake to slot home.
Goalkeeper Derrick Ochan came to KCCA’s rescue on two occasions when Blacks Power should have doubled their lead.
The visitors equalizer through Dennis Iguma who headed home from Allan Okello’s corner kick but this wasn’t enough to secure the three points.
Despite several changes for KCCA FC coach Morley Byekwaso in the second stanza, the hosts were resilient enough to pick a point.
Muhammad Shaban, Usama Arafat and Saidi Mayanja came on but couldn’t provide the much needed winner.
The results leaves KCCA FC second on the table on 37 points, three behind SC Villa while Blacks Power remain second from bottom on 16 points.
