Crime Intelligence Police has recovered a two year child who was kidnapped by his mother’s family friend who after the kidnap started asking from the parents a ransom of 150 million.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the suspect identified as Godfrey Kato picked Ayan Makanga 2 years old from Kigalama Village Kira Municipality in Wakiso District when he had gone to visit the victim’s mother known as Fatuma Nyakaisiki.
Nyakaisiki informed our reporter that Kato the prime suspect happens to be her close friend and an alumni of Kampala International University with who they studied the same course. On Thursday 10 October 2024 Kato visited her at her parents home where she stays in Kireka

She narrates that had taken to her his academic documents such that the victim’s mother can help and deliver them to her company where she works and the suspect in the process pretended as if he was going to with draw money from his mobile phone from a nearby mobile money dear but eventually disappeared with the child.
After a few minutes Nyakaisiki because specious and anxious realizing Kato wasn’t coming back with her son. She then followed him at the mobile money but she couldn’t find him and told relatives at home who started mounting a search and calling Kato who wasn’t picking his phone.
She also said that Kato called her and asked for the ransom of 150m and if he wasn’t given the money he was going to kill the boy.
Hassan Kazibwe the father of the victim while receiving his son at CPS said he received news of the kidnapping of the child on Thursday 10 at around 12:00 an and he teamed up with the mother of he victim and other family member to find a way of recovering the boy.
“ I talked to the kidnapper and he asked me the ransom of 150 million but even if sold all my assets i wouldn’t even rise a quarter so i decided to work with police fortunately on Saturday at around 5:00 am i received a call and was from the police officer who gave me good news that my boy had been recovered and he was in good health conditions.
The KMP mouth piece said that the suspect upon interrogation said that he was soliciting money to go for his kidney treatment,
