lawyer takes Government to court Challenging Ant Homosexuality Act.

A human rights  lawyer has committed  Ugandan government to court alleging that  the gay Act  that President Museveni appended his signature contradicts the constitution yet it’s the supreme law body and an law that contradicts it is null and void.

Robert Rutaro, a lawyer with Elgon association advocates, said that his move to court seeks to save AIDS patients who receive medicines from abroad in form of aid from friendly countries and multinational donars.

He said it should be recalled that the bill was first passed by the Ugandan parliament and later signed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni which has caused panic in the country.

Robert Rutaro told a news reporter at their headquarters on block 6667 Buganda Road in Kampala ,that as a freedom fighter he will not sleep and he will not allow this law which is a violation of human rights to be passed.

He said the act sows hatred in some people and that is why he has come out to fight for people who are afraid of the Act.

Lawyer Rutaro said the law is shameful  for Uganda because it contains provisions that imprison people for years, and that the constitution gives Ugandans the right to freedom of movement in their country to do whatever they want his dya.

Rutaro also said the gay law has created a stigma attached to donor countries and this will cause Ugandans to suffer and die, that Uganda is dependent on foreign investment in the West.

He said most of the money spent by the Ministry of Health comes from the Europeans and the Ministry of Agriculture as the aid from other countries sustains these ministries and if the court does not repeal the law many Ugandans will die in hospitals for cutting the aid.

Robert said those who pass this law have their children studying abroad, and they are very rich but they don’t care about the poor as the money the poor will leave behind because of this law which is not good for the citizen.
