LUKWAGO WARNS UTOF LEADERS FOR UNDER LOOKING HIS OFFICE

Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago sounded furious while addressing the Federation of Uganda Taxi Operators-(UTOF) interim leaders who he accuses of overlooking his office yet he is the political leader of Kampala Capital City Authority.

Lukwago said that he has for a long time saved the taxi operators from being chased out of Kampala and the illegal fees that KCCA was imposing on them but whenever they get challenges they go to Gen Saimu Sale’s Kapeeka based industrial herb and other offices which he call irrelevant.

The Lord Mayor accused Rashid Sekindi and Musitafa Mayambala for not informing him while going to South Africa on government sponsorship to study the rapid bus transport system after which they would help government to implement the system.

The UTOF leaders together with the leaders of the various stage leaders went to KCCA city hall to brief the Authority’s leadership about the achievement and challenges they face in their operations.

Lukwago warned them about complacency and self-seeking saying that this jeopardize the relative sanity that has been restored in their industry.

“ The people who were taking the taxi park’s land are still arrive and they are still eying the same land is if you can into leadership just with the heart of only collecting many from your fellow operator they will take the park land still and other challenges that you face will remain un resolved.’’ Lukwago Warned.

The treasurer for UTOF William Katumba watered Lukwago’s allegations saying he has never for to deter ‘mafia’s’  from taking over the old taxi park saying that DP leaders who were at the helm of leadership at city hall gave away the taxi park land and he was the lawyer of DP.

“ The allegations made by the lord mayor are un realistic on the sense that his DP party then was in the leadership of the Capital City then and Lukwago was the party’s legal adviser why didn’t he advise the late Ssebaana Kizito the mayor then not to sell the taxi land to the developers, besides that he was the MP for Kampala Central constituency by that time what did he do when the land was being demarcated into plots of land to the buyers.’’ Katumba reasoned.

He further said that those who went to Kapeeka and other offices apart from the Lord Mayor’s office were right because that is where power is and people in those offices can order and what they have ordered happens.
