MASAZA CUP FINAL WILL BE PLAYED ON OCTOBER 28TH, 2023- KABAKA TO GRACE IT

The Minister for Sports in Buganda Kingdom ‘Owek.’ Robert Sserwanga announced that, the 17th edition of Masaza Cup finals is to be played on October 28th 2023 at Wankulukuku Muteesa II memorial stadium

Sserwanga made the announcement at Bulange Mengo in a press conference where he called upon all the Kabaka subject to turn up for the annual most prestigious sports event organized by the Kingdom.

He also said that the office of the ‘Katikiiro’ was still working on the program that will see Kabaka attending and gracing the finals like it was the norm before Covid-19 pandemic eruption.

Bulemezi FC the two time winners which is coached by Veteran Ibrahim Kirya will be tussling it out with Gomba FC the record winners holding 4 titles and coached by Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza who won two Masaza Cup trophies for them in 2014 as Shafiq Bisaso’s assistant then and in 2020 when he was head of technical bench.

The chairman of the organizing committee Sulaiman Ssejengo said that the preparations are well don and meetings are ongoing to see how security will be manned. He also said tickets are not yet released for sale and warned the public against fraudulent acts of printing counterfeit tickets because when caught will be prosecuted. The public will be informed very soon when the tickets will go on market, the ordinary one will go for Ushs 20,000 and VIP 50,000.   

The Masaza Cup is an annual Buganda Kingdom tournament that has been played since 2004 when it was revived and features various teams from the 18 Buganda Kingdom counties.
