Two other suspects nabbed by Police admitted having participated in the brutal murder of Masindi District Health Officer Dr. Abiriga Jino that occurred on 7.01.2024, at Kijura cell, central division in Masindi municipality.
The suspects are identified as Namurenga Joshua 36, and Chemsanga Martin 34, a carpenter of Loruk Village both from Bukwo District having been traced by directorate of crime intelligence and they were nabbed from Bukwo and brought back to Masindi.
According to the police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the two culprits were hired by Cherotic Betty the wife to late Dr. Abiriga and she first gave the gruesome murder deal to Kipsanga Martin on December 11th 2023 having agreed to pay him UGX 2.5M to help kill her co-wife a one Atukura Suzan.
However the plot aborted and on December 18th the prime suspect sent to Kipsanga Martin UGX 500,000 as part payment to target and eliminate Atukura which also failed because the targeted person didn’t appear at the location she was expected to be that day.
As a result of the failed plot to murder Atukuru, Cherotic shifted her plans and decided to eliminate her 9 months father whom she accused of having a hand in the death of their first born son and miscourage of the twins. Cherotic was hungered that her husband the late Dr. Abriga would always insult her for being a poor sex performer.
This coupled with jerousy of Dr. Abiriga getting another wife triggered the prime suspect to task Kipsanga to get a second person to help him execute the murder of her husband. Kipsanga contacted Namurenga and the two came to Masindi finish off the mission..
Mr. Enanga informed reporters at Naguru Police Headquarters in a weekly press briefing on Monday 15th, 2024 that on December 26th, 2023, Kipsanga and Namurenga came to finish off their mission but also aborted because the late DHO woke up and locked the door which her wife had left open for purposes of executing her mission and they went back to Bukwo.
The two suspected murderers returned on January 6th, 2024 after being pressurized by Cherotic, to come back and accomplish her mission and according to the investigation report, the duo left Bukwo at around Midday and on reaching Masindi they booked at Valentine Guest House. During Abriga’s fateful night, his wife alerted them that the husband was deep asleep.
They swung in and found the gate open she led them to their marital bedroom and they hit the deceased with hoe handle sticks, inflicted the body with additional injuries on head and also cut his throat. They then cleaned the dead body and dressed it in a red T-shirt and blue pair of trousers then carried it on a stretcher and dumped it 50m away from his home.
The returned to Valentine Gust House at 5:30 am and dumped the cloths with blood stain in a toilet. Mr. Enanga also revealed that several exhibits were recovered from Buryasingo Cell and these include; two hoe handle sticks, cloths which the suspect wore, a pair of shoes for the deceased which one of the suspects had worn, his work identity card a bag containing a pillow cover and a mopping lag.
The samples were handed to police Forensic directorate for further analysis after which they will be used in court to pin the suspects when they are aligned to answer their charges.
