The Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development Matia Kasaijja has urgued Traders who are under their Umbrella organization of Kampala Arcades Traders Association (KATA) to accept paying such that their aspirations are fostered.
He also advised them to get united if they are to achieve their common interest other than creating several traders groups.
Kasaijja made the remarks while officiating at workshop at Grand Imperial Hotel that was organized by enhance traders’ skills of doing business and also sensitize them on issues concerning tax compliance.
The chairman of KATA Godfrey Katongole called his members who came from different cities to support the transiting from the Association to a Union because this will help them to have a big voice while fighting for their common goal.
Sanyu Kyazze a trader from Mubende town and former head of Buwekula County asked traders to embrace paying taxes because it’s from such revenue collected by government that infrastructures which facilitate trade are developed.
Kyazze asked president Museveni to deal with errant government officials who swindle public funds because they there acts hinder development which in turn affects the smooth running of trade not only in the country but also in the whole EAC region due to lack of connectivity.
