MINISTER MAO CALLS FELLOW OPPOSITION LEADERS COCKROACHES

The Democratic Party president Norbert Moa has started verbal artillery on opposition leaders accusing them of abusing those who negotiated with government to secure the release of Allan Ssewanyana and Mohamad Ssegirinya the members of parliament for Makindye West and Kawempe North respectively.

Mao said that the laws of the duo had failed to secure for their clients the court bail yet the MP were suffering multiple body injuries and needed to get treatment a gently yet court had denied them that constitutional right.

He called those criticizing what was done cockroaches which don what to be in light. He also said that some NUP leaders are feeling jealous because they just wanted to show buzz after the MPs had been released and call the press and brag around that you see what we have been telling the public.

“I don’t want to take the credit alone although I initiated the negotiations that lead to the release of the honorable members of parliament. I was with other opposition leaders who are also good in negotiations. “Mao said.

He add, ”   I was approached by honorable Ssegirinya’s mother to help and talk to the president such that her son is released and NUP members who are criticizing us are just ‘sick’ and need to be seek medical treatment.”

” I have help many political prisoners to get released for instance after the 2021 general elections there were many people in jail but I managed to secure the release of about 70 youth who had been arrested and jailed during the campaigns and we are still negotiating to have all political prisoners released.”

Mao also advised other political parties to stop doing press conferences where the front torture victims and start helping them secure justice instead of using such a situation as a political basis.

“The Democratic Party has moved from the politics of hatred to politics of reconciliation. And the party leadership is working towards achieving peaceful change of government.”

Mao argued those opposed to it tend he come up with a better alternative because they have tried other avenues and failed if they want to remove the regime through the method used by NRM they are free but DP will not join them and will remain here and waiting to congratulate them after succeeding.

He also calls the party members who left the party because the internal wrangles to come back help rebuild the party structures before the next general elections draws near.
