MPUUGA VOWS TO FIGHT ON FOR HIS COMMISSIONER OF PARLIAMENT POSITION DESPITE A CALL BY HIS SUPERIOR TO STEP DOWN

Former Leader of Opposition Hon. Mathius Mpuuga who is also the legislator for Nyendo- Mukungwe in Masaka City has vowed to fight on until the party is cleaned up.

NUP convened a National Executive Committee meeting twice which resolved that Mpuuga be recalled from his position as Commissioner of Parliament and also be replaced with Mityana Municipality legislator Francis Zaake who was booted from the same position two years ago.

He didn’t attend these meetings and when asked why he absconded he said it’s was his right and that there was no any political agenda to be discussed.

Mpuuga has re-affirmed his earlier stance of not resigning as commissioner of parliament and said he has no plans of leaving the party because NUP is his party which he participated in its initiation.

In a press conference he convened at Parliament he said he will not leave the party he started because of pressure abuses mounted on him by people who think they are clean and are purportedly working towards cleansing the house. 

He retaliated his earlier position on the accusation that he accepted to pocket UGX 500m in a corrupt manner denying any wrong doing in this.

“I will not step down as requested by the party’s Secretary General because there is no law he is basing on to ask me to do so. Besides I haven’t infringed on any law.’’ A tough Mpuuga Vowed.  

He further said, “ I will remain in the party to work for the constitutional shift to beyond manipulation of change agenda to enable Diaspora members also to participate fully in the part electoral activities. To remove the selfish individualism of ordering as well as arbitrary brings in brilliant ideals to have proper internal leadership mechanism.’’
