NRM Diaspora Members to honor Museveni for his distinguished Leadership

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Members in Diaspora move to celebrate the achievement of their party chairman and President of Uganda Gen Y.K Museveni Tibahaburwa in the fight against Covid-19 Pandemic.

This was revealed to the media at Uganda Media Centre on June 21st 2014 by Ambassador Abby Kigozi Walusimbi who also doubles as a Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs.

Mr. Kigozi said that although there are challenges such as high youth unemployment, through the leadership of president Museveni there are tangible things that Uganda has been able to achieve that can warrant the celebration and thanking by awarding him with what he called Global Award.

He said the Diaspora NRM members have organized an International Post Covid-19 Global Conference the first of its kind and will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Canada from July 11th -13, 2024. The convention will be under the theme: “ Evaluating the Impact of Covid-19 on Humanity Building Synergies and Resilience for Future Global Shocks.’’

According to Ambassador Kigozi, the award will be in honoring Museveni’s distinguished and visionary leadership he dedication in fight against the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The role he played in leading Ugandans that required high level visionary and decision. “ Uganda has been recognized as a role model for Pandemic Containment in Africa and this has been due to the efforts of President Museveni of encouraging Scientist to do research through his Presidential Scientific Initiative which has strengthened Uganda’s capacity to prevent, detect and respond to public health threats such as Covid-a9 Pandemic.’’ Ambassador Kigozi said.

He also said that other notable persons will also be a warded for their excellent work and efforts rendered towards the fight against and containment of the Pandemic and these include; the Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng and his Permanent Secretary Dr. Diana Atwine, Minister for Science and Technology and Innovation Dr. Monica Musenero the senior presidential adviser on Epidemics.

Others are, business man Dr. Emmanuel Katongole the Director and co-founder of Quality Chemicals Ltd for his able leadership in mobilizing the private sector to contribute to the financial fundraising, Lt. Col. Dr. Henry Kyobe, Prof. Dr. Patrick Ogwanga for developing of covid-19 drug, Hon. Mary Busingye Karooro Okurutu, Prof. Pontiano Kaleebu of Uganda Virus Research Institute, Hon. Esther Mbulakubuza Mbayo.

Several countries from different parts of the country will participated in the convention and are expected to come up with a position on Public Health preparedness to address global pandemics.
