National Unity Platform President (NUP) Ssentamu Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) has attacked the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among for buying off opposition leaders taking them to her NRM party using tax payers’ money.

He said that government allocates a big portion of the national budget purposely for using part of the money to terrorize and destroy opposition through intimidating them with huge chucks of money.

Kyagulanyi made the attack while presiding over the ushering in converts from different regions of the country at the party Headquarters in Kavule, Kawempe Division on 16th Tuesday April, 2024.

“ We are not part of misappropriation of public funds like what the speaker and the president are doing. We are here to condemn such acts.’’ Kyagulanyi said.

He cautioned a total of about 500 people from the different regions who defected from the ruling party and other opposition parties not to think about getting leadership positions saying that NUP isn’t for that agenda.

“Our major agenda is to remove President Museveni from power who have turned good people into thieves, beggars, slaves and prostitutes.’’ Our mission now is to free our people using the people power enshrined in the constitution,’’ Kyagulanyi said.

He further said that, “ you have not joined the party to be entertained but joined a mission to remove President Museveni and his NRM party from power through invoking article one of the constitution.

Kyagulanyi also said, “ we are the one leading President Museveni not because we are very wise, beautiful or very old but simply because of people power and the moment we deviate away from that people run away from us.’’

The leader of opposition in Parliament Joel Ssenyonyi said that bad government will pinch everyone and it has started affecting the business community who at first were rebuking those who were striking as a way of showing their discontent of the regime acts.

He said that parliament in the national budget proposal asked about UGX I trillion to finance payment of salaries and wages, gratuities and workers in his office who were suspended . Ssenyonyi said that this budget is too huge for the tax payer to fund it.

The leader of opposition said in their proposed budget they gave parliament a total of slightly above UGX 500 billion and cut statehouse budget of to half.

A total of about 500 people defected from NRM and other opposition parties but the notable ones are Asege Abibu from North, former Masaka LC V chairman Jude Mbabali, Dr. Benjamin Musinguzi from Mbarara University and Dr. Amadri from Terego.
