POLICE IS INVESTIGATING A FIRE OUTBREAK THAT KILLED TWO PEOPLE IN A RESIDENTIAL HOUSE

Police in  Kyengera are investigating a case of fire out break where three people perished in Kinawa Cell, Kasenge Ward, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District.

The deceased were identified as:

1-Halima Nankaja aged 50 years, , Landlady 

2-Ayubu, male juvenile 3 years and a grandson to Halima.

3-Aisha Nambi female juvenile 13 years old.

It’s alleged that the three entered their house, locked the doors and slept in their double room residential house then  fire broke out from inside while they were asleep until when neighbors saw the fire and had to dig through the walls and cut the metallic doors to gain access.

The residents found the baby burnt into ashes, one Halima already burnt to death and  Aisha burnt but was still alive.

She was rushed to Kirundu hospital but died on arrival.

Police was notified and responded with fire trucks.

Fire was extinguished by locals before arrival of the fire brigade  that was hampered by lack of clear access/roads to the scene

There was total damage to house hold property especially the double room occupied by the deceased, 

However, other five single rental rooms attached to the same house were saved from the fire as it didn’t spread to them.

Two dead bodies found retrieved from the fire

The two dead bodies were taken to city mortuary for postmortem and the third  body is still at Kirudu Mortuary 

Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said cause of fire not yet established
