Police have launched an investigation into overnight letters sent to MPs

Uganda Police Force spokesperson Fred Enanga has said that security forces have launched an investigation into late night letters sent to MPs by disgruntled officers threatening to kill them if they do not pay the money they have asked for.

Makindye East MP National Unity Platform – NUP member, Hon Nyeko Derrick said he received a message on WhatsApp from an unknown person asking for Rwf10 million or he will be killed.

He said he received a message from +971567751087 from the Association of Tired Officers in Uniform asking for money to save his life.

Nyeko said the message came from where he works as the President of the Association of Tired Officers in uniform from Uganda and told him that they had only budgeted for 4 bullets for him but he gave them shs10 million for someone else.

Enanga said the MP for Mityana District Hon. Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa also received the same letter, that the security forces have started investigating the matter.

The Association said there are police officers and military personnel who have decided to intervene by intimidating MPs.
