SCP Fred Enanga addressing Reporters at Naguru Police Headquarters

Police during Easter festive season registered a total of 62 crime cases country wide were 52 suspects were arrested and 46 people lost their lives.
According to the Police Spokesperson SCP. Fred Enanga, of the 62 cases registered, 10 were for murder, thefts 9, 20 House attack and 4 violence. He also said that there was an increase in number of cases from 44 in 2023 Easter season to 62 in 2024.
Mr. Enanga while addressing Journalists in a weekly press briefing at Naguru Police Headquarters said that Rwenzori West region and Greater Masaka registered the highest cases while Aswa West, Moroto and Kidepo had the least number of cases each had just one case.
“There was no any security threat reported in all our area jurisdictions indicating that the resurrection of Jesus was cerebrated peacefully,’’ SCP. Enanga said
He also said that there were no incidents reported on music concerts and shows in all parts of the country, attributing this to a cordial working relationship between police and the music promoters in all major venues.
Meanwhile a total of 45 people also lost their lives in road crashes registered in the same festive season, 125 sustained injuries and most of those crashes occurred in Kampala Metropolitan, Albertine and Wamala regions.
The Directorate of Traffic and safety department spokesperson Michael Kananura in the same press briefing said that of the 45 death, 22 were motorcyclists contributing to 49% while 10 were pedestrian (22%) and 5 were passenger moving on motorcycles (11%).
