police have warned people who are organizing protests on 8 may 2023 that those who are doing so are doing so illegally.

Police spokesman Patrick Onyango said in a statement that police investigators have discovered that some politicians are using social media to encourage Ugandans to participate in the protests.

He said people on social media are ordering a strike starting on Monday 8th to protest against the price of goods.

Onyango in a statement said the protest was called Uganda Economic protest peaceful demonstration.

They have also trained people in Mand in Wakiso, Kiboga and other areas across the country to participate in demonstration.

Onyango in the statement said that some of the bodaboda riders have been given fuel to make them unrest but police intelligence agencies have started tracking the number plates of the motorcycles they will use to buy them the country.

He said anyone who participates in the protest should be informed by the police.

Photos and messages have been posted on social media urging Ugandans to protest on 8 may against the soaring prices.

The protesters have also launched social media accounts urging people to take to the streets to protest.
