REAL ESTATE DEVELOPER NABUKEERA IN HOT SOUP FOR ALLEGEDLY STEALING HER TENANT’S MERCHANDISE

City Tycoon and real estate developer Christine Nabukeera still in hot soup and may be sent to be behind the bars for a sizable period of time if convicted. She appeared before the Buganda Road chief magistrate’s court on February 8, 2023 to answer charges of breaking into her tenant’s shop and stealing his merchandise worth UGX 175 million and hard cash both in local and US dollars.

Nabukeera together with her son Vicente Mawanda allegedly took the law in their hands and broke into John Kabanda’s Shop, the chairman of Kampala New Generation Traders Association in 2020.

The Magistrate warned the defendant, Nabukeera for absenting herself from attending court sessions and can’t travel abroad until hearing of the case is concluded. Court presided over by the chief magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu will conclude hearing of the case on March 6, 2023 after which she will give her verdict.

The case has dragged on for more than two years. In October 2020 John Kabanda with the help of the state dragged the real estate developer Christine Nabukeera and her son Vicent Mawanda who happens to be the manager of her Nana Center building located along Nakivubo road for allegedly breaking into his shop and stealing shoes worth UGX 300 million and hard cash 600 million.

Kabanda is still very optimistic that he will receive justice and will be compensated and paid damage least tycoon Nabukeera and her son Mawanda will get behind the bars for taking the law in their hands.

“I am very confident that court will deliver justice to me and to the tenants who have been suffering because of errant city landlords who have always been taking the law in their hands because they think that their money can help to solve everything’’. Kabanda said.

Chief magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu on February7 2023 heard the cross examination of Kabanda’s witnesses and she adjourned the court to February 8 2023 on which date a hand writing expert and police CID were supposed to be examined by the state prosecutor Allan Muchunguzi informed court that the hand writing expert had traveled to sembabule to handle a similar issue.

Nabukeera’s Lawyers led by Dusman Kabega asked court to consider only the witnesses that have been cross examined because the state prosecutor failed to bring on the hand writing expert and the two police CID who investigated the case to testify on February 8 2023 but failed.

Court was adjourned to February 23 and March 6 2023 to allow the Police CID and a hand wring expert to appear in court for cross examination after which the state prosecutor who is representing Kabanda will close the case.
