Kabale- Ntungano road crash claim lives of two people 9 hospitalised with serious injuries while 4 other people also died on spot six got injuries in another crash that occurred on 4th September, 2024 at Kakazi Luweero Town Council along Kampala Gulu highway.
According to the Traffic police weekly road crash report by the directorate spokesperson SP Michael Kananura, on 7th September, 2024, motor vehicle registration number UBP 2010X Nissan Patrol corroded head-on with a Toyota Helix taxi number UBF 179U that was travelling from Kabale to Ntungamo while in Luweero oly one care was identified a Toyota Helix registration number UBG 395L another vehicle involves was driven off from the scene and police in searching for it.
While addressing reporters at Naguru Police Headquarters, Kananura said that the driver of Nissan Patrol attempted to unsafely over take a taxi at Rwentobo town in Ntungamo District causing him to corrode head-on with Toyota Helix that was carrying passengers. The driver of the Nissan Patrol also sustained severe injuries.
He also informed reporters that one of the survivors in Rwentobo crash informed police that the driver of motor vehicle number UBF 179U was warned multiple times because he was dozing.
Kananura warned drivers who wish to drive at night to always take enough rest during day time to avoid dozing he also cautioned motorists to always avoid over take in unsafe areas because this is one of the major causes of road crashes.
In a related development, in traffic police routine operations, a total of 619 drivers were arrested, of these 110 were found without driver’s license, 275 had expired permits , 230 were operating vehicles with out of class permits and 4 were holding forged permits.
